Rhinoplasty in Melbourne, FL
Rhinoplasty is facial surgery for your nose. Also known as nose reshaping and nose jobs, the surgery aims to improve the size and shape of your nose as well as to correct any abnormalities, such as bumps and crookedness. Castellon Plastic Surgery Center, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Mauricio J. Castellon, MD, offers nose jobs and other types of facial surgery for men and women who live in Melbourne, Brevard County and the surrounding communities of Central Florida.
What is Rhinoplasty?
More commonly called a “nose job,” rhinoplasty refers to the surgical procedure during which the patient’s nose is reshaped to improve the appearance and/or function. Nose reshaping can correct nasal breathing problems resulting from trauma or birth defects. Cosmetic rhinoplasty is usually done to reduce the size of the nose or change the size/shape of the tip, bridge or nostrils.
Benefits of a Nose Job
Nose reshaping will improve:
- Ability to breathe
- Crooked appearance
- Nostrils that are too large or small
- Nose shape and size to better match other facial features
- Reduce the effects of trauma and birth defects
Who is the Ideal Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty may not be right for everyone. The ideal patient for rhinoplasty is an individual that is in general good health, a non-smoker and a patient that is not satisfied with the appearance of their nose or has a nasal condition that hinders proper nasal functioning.
What Do I Need to Do Before Having a Nose Job?
Before having a nose job, you should meet with Dr. Castellon to learn about your options. He will explain how rhinoplasty will help you. He also helps you have realistic expectations of the surgery.
What Should I Expect on the Day of My Rhinoplasty?
Dr. Castellon performs nose jobs at a surgery center that is fully staffed with anesthesiologists, surgical nurses and other medical professionals who provide care and support before, during and after your rhinoplasty. We will need some time to help you prepare for the surgery, so please arrive at your scheduled time. You will need a friend or family member to drive you to the appointment as well as once you are released, which should be the same day.
How Long Does It Take to Perform a Nose Job?
A nose job is tailored to the needs of the patient, so the length of the surgery varies. Your rhinoplasty may take one to three hours.
What Should I Expect After My Rhinoplasty?
Once you are released from the surgery center, you will need to return home and rest. The most important aspect of your after-care is to protect your nose from injury. Your nose will be wrapped with a bandage, but it is still susceptible to being injured. Dr. Castellon will explain limitations to your activities before you leave the surgery center.
When Will I See Full Results of My Nose Job?
Your nose will be wrapped after the surgery, so you will not see the initial results for seven to 10 days. Full results can take six to 12 months.
How Long Will the Results of a Rhinoplasty Last?
If you protect your nose from injury, the results of your nose reshaping are permanent.
